Reliving the summer of ’99 in the New Balance M1000SL
Like building a house, any great outfit needs a rock solid foundation and there’s few brands doing it better than New Balance right now. Back in their archival bag, the Boston brand is bringing us back to ’99 with the return of the New Balance M1000, a spacey, retro wonder that serves up a vicious blend of retro and contemporary energy. Linking up with our good friend Emilie Briting, we put the NB 1000 through its paces with a palette of striking looks curated by Emilie, to showoff just how versatile this little retro wonder truly is.
Popping off like the little firecracker it is, the 1000 series pairs effortlessly with baggy jeans, khakis, heavy-duty canvas, and of course a big ole pair of Jorts. With a vivaciously chunky upper, the M1000 series pairs a lightweight mesh upper with plush leather swatches that arc from toe to heel, while thick round laces track an equally plush tongue. But of course it can’t JUST look beautiful, it’s got to feel great too, so the footwear savants at New Balance have layered a full-length ABZORB midsole underfoot in a faux-aged off-white to serve up all-day comfort.
